Members Absent:   Lynne LaMarca, Bev Whiteman

The Senior Warden called the meeting to order at 6:33 p.m. and opened with prayer.

September minutes and financials were unanimously approved with the direction to post them. Moved by Adrienne/seconded by Lee. (The financials appear in the official copy of these minutes as Appendix A).

Item of Personal Privilege.  Fr. Bill gave a short personal profile. In November, Hal will give his profile.   These will be published in St. Paul’s Pathway under the headline: “Meet Your Vestry.”

Request to Explore Building a Columbarium. Barbara and Dave Abernethy brought to the Vestry an offer of providing a money amount towards building a columbarium on St. Paul’s grounds.

Alan moved and Richard seconded a motion to go forward and meet with a representative to give us ideas and quotes. The motion was unanimously approved.  Fr. Bill  appointed Barb and Dave and himself to explore the matter and bring back a proposal.

Report of the Communications Committee: Tom Connolly reported to the Vestry the results of the Parish Survey performed in August. Barb expressed appreciation from the whole Vestry for all his work done on this project.   The report will be shared with the whole parish at the Annual Meeting and will be turned over to the Worship committee as they review our present worship and formation offerings.

Old Business:

  1. Coffee Break: Charlene requested that the vestry decision to eliminate the donation basket at the September meeting be rescinded.  Her rational for the request was that the motion came from the floor and was not fully discussed before the vote was taken, and that several parishioners wished to continue our past practice.

Adrienne then moved and Hal seconded a motion to continue the donation basket and that   Hal, Charlene and Van would meet to discuss how the money received should be handled. The motion was unanimously approved.

  1. Vestry Support of Endowment Proposal.  Alan moved and Barb seconded a motion that in compliance with the agreement at the 2016 February meeting, that the Vestry go on record that each member of the Vestry has met with one of five designated persons to hear a presentation about St. Paul’s endowment and have promised to prayerfully consider making a bequest to the endowment fund.  After considerable discussion and the acknowledgement that one person still needed to hear the presentation, the motion was unanimously approved.

New Business:

  1. Recommendation: Alan moved and Barb seconded a motion that Wendel “Tad” Meyer, Kay Richardson and Claude Vershure be hired as Assisting Priests, Mary Abraham to be named Deacon, and Frank King to be named Chaplain of the Men’s Group for the 2016-2017 season. The motion was unanimously approved.
  2. Recommendation:  Lee moved and Van seconded a motion that our projected 2017 Endowment income (projected at $9,951.73) be distributed and be received by ACH Direct Deposit. The motion was unanimously approved.
