Vestry Meeting Minutes
April 11, 2019
 
The Vestry meeting was called to order at 6:32 p.m. by Fr. Tom, followed with prayer.
 
Members Present: Richard Breithaupt, Senior Warden; Don Anderson, Junior Warden; Dave Abernethy, Treasurer; Fr. Tom, Rector, Judy Allen, Joyce Cashin, Charlene Connolly, Van Geoghegan, Dick Emerson, Peter Lund, and Lee Perry.
 
Members Absent: Yvon Hive.
 
Guest Speakers: Jeff Page, the Farmer’s Market manager, and Jim Crosby, the Farmers’ Market coordinator, discussed a possible Market Coordinator for the 2019/20 Farmers’ Market. The person in mind, has worked several markets locally. Jim and Jeff were impressed with her knowledge, marketing skills, and ability to draw vendors to markets. Discussion included a possible payment plan of 5-10% of the gross market sales. The contractor was unable to attend. A meeting with the Executive Board and Jeff Page will be set up with the contractor in May.
 
Minutes, Financials, and 2019 Budget: Richard Breithaupt moved, and Dick Emerson seconded a motion that the March minutes, March financials, and the 2019 budget be approved as distributed.  The 2019 budget was adopted as presented. The motion was unanimously approved. 
 
Item of Personal Privilege:   Richard Breithaupt presented the highlights of his life story. In May, Don Anderson will be the presenter.
 
Reports
 
1.       Five Wishes: Fr. Tom ordered Five Wishes for pastoral care at St. Paul’s. This is a pamphlet to advise a person on how to make care decisions, medical treatment, comfort care, and what you want loved ones to know when it gets close to the end. Fr. Tom would like these available to all parishioners.
 
2.       Water Leak:
       Don reported we would have a better sense of the increased bill when the invoice for March/April comes in. A proposal for dividing the irrigation
       system south of the church will be received from Win Turner in the future.
 
3.       Vestry Retreat:
The Retreat will be held at Richard Breithaupt’s home on May 11, from 9 am – 1 pm. Fr. Tom has plans to review the Canons and By Laws, Vestry responsibilities, management issues and asset mapping. Richard Breithaupt will review the Memorial Garden Documents and Gift Acceptance Policies and report to the Vestry.
The May Vestry meeting will be held at the retreat. 
4.       Safeguarding:
Van Geoghegan, Dick Emerson, Judy Allen, and Don Anderson will need to do the Safeguarding Course. 
 
5.       Sexton:
Don Anderson reported possible responsibilities of a sexton for St. Paul’s. This will be a work in progress and more research is needed. AN anonymous donor has been found to help cover the costs of the position. A motion was made to fund this new position with the donation made. Van moved, and Don seconded this motion. The motion was unanimously approve.
 
6.       Budget:
       Dave reported the trend of the budget is looking good. 
 
7.       Rector Vacation:
       Fr. Tom reported he will be on retreat and also vacation from April 22 thru April 28. The Rev. Eric Cooter will be on call for emergencies.  Fr.
       Tom also ha a vacation planned mid summer to go see family.
 
8.       Holy Name of Jesus:
      Fr. Tom reported Fr. Panel is working on getting his parish to become a mission church. Fr. Tom is supportive of this effort and will meet with 
      the Bishop and discuss this in May.
 
9.       Jeff Page:
Peter moved, and Richard seconded the motion to have a plaque with Jeff’s name on it made and put on a window at St. Paul’s to recognize his volunteer service with the Farmers’ Market the past several years. This is Jeff’s last year with the market.. The motion was unanimously approved.
 
The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 pm by Fr. Tom and everyone stood in approval.
 
The executive board meeting is set for May 2 at 2 pm.
